About LA State Historic Park:
Originally fertile riverbed and Tongva land, the location of what is now LA State Historic park was developed by Spanish colonial settlers, before it became the site of the Southern Pacific Railroad. In an effort to protect the land, a culturally diverse group of local communities, activists and environmental advocates came together to prevent industrial development and succeeded in winning a state park for the people by the people.
